thank you a lot for your answers.

I will get the koni's and also I'll try to change the tires as NR04 recommended and keep you updated.

Sorry missed that...yeah the 4.2 setup won't work for the 3.2 Avant. Thanks for that Mig.

Good luck with Koni.

I will check my tires brand, if i remember right are continental conti 2.

Can you please tell me exactly what size tires should I buy in order to improve confort? I will buy then on 17" rims.

So, koni fsd really makes the difference right?

Thank you
16" rims will give you better comfort because it will use tires with higher sidewalls. 17" rims are heavier and will use tires with shorter sidewall. it means that 17" rims are less comfortable. So you should keep 16" rims and install softer tires. touring tires should be softer then high performance or winter tires. run flat tires definitly not comfortable and should not be used. Also check the air preasure. It should not be to high.

Finally, as others I never heard about C6 A6 on 16" rims. Sounds too small to cover brake calipers. Are you sure that we talk about the same car and the same rim size?

Correct, standard delivery in Europe for the C6 A6 was 16".
Bigger was optional.

Mine has 16" winter wheels, and 18' summer wheels.
The clearance on the 16" is minimal.

Hello,

I finally bought some standard coil springs in order to change my sport suspension from a stock sport one to a standard suspension.

Now I have a big dilemma choosing the right shock absorbers considering to key elements: Price & Comfort Quality

Everybody is saying to buy the Koni FSD's, but are a little bit pricey for my budget, almost at the same price as OEM Audi standard suspension.

I read good things about Bilstein (also pricey) and KYB.

My question is: Between those( Koni, OEM Standard Shock,Bilstein and KYB) which one offer the best balance between comfort and price?

The KYB are the cheapest, but I will be satisfied? I mean, it will be big differences from a new standard suspension?

Thank you,
Adrian

I've used all the types of shocks you've mentioned on a variety of older cars, VW Bugs, Porsche 356, Volvo 122,123GT,145,745T Koni was always my favorite. Of course this was years ago on "obsolete cars". My present fleet is a '95.5 S6 Avant w/Euro S6 Plus Springs & Sachs Advantage shock/struts and '06 A6 Avant w/stock suspension. I'm happy w/both. I'd love to see a picture of your 16 in wheels as I'm trying to find a set for the A6 for Winter use.

After reading the various comments in this thread, and having owned a C6 A6 Avant for a number of years, I think the FSD is likely to yield what you are looking for. The standard suspension in our wagon is stiff. In fact, I think it's stiffer and with more harshness over poor surfaces than my A4 with the sport suspension. You might be massively disappointed going with Bilstein, etc.

We have RIAL 16" wheels for our winter setup. There's not much relief to be found when they are on the car vs. the OE 17" wheels. The Avant's suspension is stiff.
