Audi A6 (C6) - Parking Brake Malfunction

Hi,
Im a first time Audi owner - having recently purchased an '05 Audi A6 (4F) with 53,000 miles on it. The car came with a "parking brake malfunction" error although the rakes seem to apply and release fine. The dealer told me that the control module needs to be replaced at a cost of over $800.
My questions are:
1. What is the part number for this module?
2. Where is it located and what is the procedure to replace it?
3. Will I need to do any coding to replace it or is it "plug & play"?
Im hoping to post developments with pictures as i go along so for others to use in the future. Thanks!

@jeffry:
1. Yes - there is just a big yellow crossed out "P".
2. There is no ABS or EPS lights on.
3. I hear a loud beep (repeated 3 or 4 times). This does not happen everytime - only once every 10 - 15 times i turn the car on. No additional lights or errors pop up along with the beeps.
4. I unfortunately do not have a VAG-COM or any computer codes.
@kevingary:
1. Thanks! I looked at the TSB and also showed it to the dealership. They hadn't checked it out initially - after i insisted, they came back to me and said that it didn't solve the problem.
2. They suggested that I need to replace the control module.
@ freshfrompacificrim:
1. Thanks!
2. Do you know the part #? I think its this: http://goo.gl/iVIC1 but i'm not sure.

I believe thats the part.
When this happened to me, diagnosing through vagcom, i discovered the wire was frayed right at the right parking brake connector on the caliper, so I just pulled back the rubber sleeve, and soldered it. Problem solved.
