Default Audi A6 Reliable?

Hi,
im seriously considering buying a used 2006 audi a6 3.2Quattro.

however, the car has 63k on it, and im afraid that once it hits around 80k, it would start running into all kinds of problems.

now im not frugal, but i'd hate spending thousands to fix this car.

how is the A6's reputation like on reliability?

Any personal experiences?

The more bells & whistles the more trouble you may be looking into...

But my personal thoughts are that the 2006 would be more reliable than the 2005s.

Also, how about looking for a CPO? These cars are expensive and are also expensive to fix.

The CPO will provide you with peace of mind at least for the next 2~3 years.

It is reliable, but at that milage, I think there are going to be worn out parts to change, and then problems. Why dont you get something with 20K miles or so? just my 2 cents

I would just get a warranty with it, if you are financing they can build it into the price. Make sure you get one that your dealer will honor, that's the easiest way to do it. Mine has 83k miles on it, its a 2007 (I drive A LOT) and (knock on wood) I just have the usual wear and tear. My last 2 audis both had near 100k on them and both had aftermarket warranties that saved me thousands of dollars

According to Consumer Reports the 2005 is the most reliable of the C6s.

Hi, my dealer offers a 3 years warranty for 3000 dollars. and 4 years for 4200.

for about 1000/year on warranty, is it actually going to cost me more than a thousand a year to maintain this? (where this includes random fixes)

When I purchased my 05 4.2 I also purchased an extended - all inclusive - no deductible - 7 year/100K warranty for about $2,700. The original warranty expired at 50K and the extended warranty has covered $1,200 in repairs (coolant temperature sensor, power rear sun visor and adaptive headlight sensor) all before I hit 57K on the odometer. If this keeps up the warranty is going to pay for itself four times over. I would get the warranty.

Got mine over a year ago with 35k on the clock. No problems then and no problems now. Had the MMI updated as soon as I picked it up. Plus I had an annoying rattle in the headliner area and it turned out to be one of those extra springs that other people have posted so I guess I had a small problem. The car is still CPO'd until Jan '2011 but if a bigger problem came up (even another annoying rattle) I would probably be tempted by another car because I just like changing cars for no good reason. =)
Can't justify changing it right now though since nothing is wrong with it and because of the CPO but unfortunately I'm always thinking of cheating on her!

That is steep for a Warranty, might have to find one with higher deductible or something. On my A4 I had to replace the entire turbo/intercooler system as well as some various engine parts, warranty paid for itself 2x over in the first year and is still helping the guy who bought the car off of me (boosts resale value). It is nice having the peace of mind...yes it may be 3k out of pocket now, but you can drive with a clear head knowing you are covered.....

How does the A6 stand in maintenance costs/average random problem costs among vehicles about this price.
