Hello guys,
I know there is a lot of information posted out there about retrofitting an AMI kit to an MMI system.
All that information has been really confusing.
I saw there are multiple adapters to get your IPOD connected to your car, below is some I came to know :
- Audi AMI
- Dension 500
- VNS Media kit
Can someone who has already done this recommend any good choice? Also what would be the best place and price to get any of these.
Thanks.

I did the AMI retrofit this past summer. I got the unti for 175 and the cable for 20. It was super easy to install just make sure your software is 4610 which you can also do on your own, I have the cds if you are interested you can pm me. But I love it, made my car seem new again haha but its by the far the simplest of the options in my opinion and least expensive. It also wont affect any other electrical in car. I found mine on ebay from salvage also make sure you get the correct AMI, there is the MOST and CAN, I have an 06 and I needed the MOST, the CAN is for later models I believe.

Hey,
That is really cheap! 200 is a steal.
Thanks to Royclark's reply - I saw in ebay that most of the AMI modules cost upwardly of 500$
I m looking for a cheaper module somewhere - maybe junkyard/keep looking on ebay if something comes up.
Hope for some luck

Guys,
Good news I found one off ebay for 200, waiting for it to ship now![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Willydimes - I have 4140 in my Audi, will that detect AMI?
Also, did you split the cable to have both your CD changer and AMI or just swapped the AMI?
So far I ordered
the unit : Part no 4E0057785F
radio removal tool : 4D0051530
ipod connector cable : 4F0051510L
Can you please let me know what other parts I need?
Thanks!

If you are removing CD changer in the glovebox and replacing with AMI, you shouldn't need anything else. Just unplug CD changer and plug in AMI. If you are keeping CD and adding AMI next to it, you will need power wiring harness #4F0051592A and fiber optic adapter #4E0972645. These are basically splitters that you plug into back of CD and AMI together then they plug into car.
FYI you will need to dremel out a little bit of the back of the glove box to fit AMI in next to CD changer if you decide to keep both.
