I have a 2008 with 77,XXX miles and the blower has stopped working. For approximately two weeks the HVAC blower would take between 30 sec and 1 minute to start working after the car was turned on, but today it stopped altogether. There were no unusual sounds coming from the blower before it quit - at least anything I could hear inside the car.
1). Is there anything I should check to help diagnose the problem? Anything I can check with my VAG COM?
2). Does it sound like the blower motor might be the issue? I read other threads with similar issues but nothing that definitely said the problem was a blower motor.
3) Is the blower motor easy to replace and do I need a Bentley manual? I don't have one right now.
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I'll just order a Bentley Manual and a new motor and see how far I can get.
- Mike
PS - I'm in St Louis and absolutely hate my dealer and would rather drive without air than give them another dime.

Here are the VAG scan results. Now that it isn't working at all should I reset the codes and see what it pulls? The date on the code below is 7/13 which I suppose is the first time it had a problem?
Thanks,
-Mike

I replaced the blower motor/fan today and everything seems to be working fine. Because I wasn't sure if that was the problem, I purchased a used part off ebay for $80 shipped. A new fan was twice that.
It took about two hours but would take less than half that the next time around. The only tool I needed was a long handled T-15 torx wrench which is used to remove all the screws.
I took several pictures during the process and may post them later but for those who are wondering what access to the fan looks like, here is a pic.

The only difficult part was removing the wiper blades and accessing one screw in the back that was tucked under some sheet metal. Very easy DIY project.

Hey, thank you for the post.
I have 3 A6 C6 cars.
On my 2008, I have been getting a delay in blower motor coming on. One freezing winter night, I had no defrost or heater at all. Half way in my journey (about 20 mins) it came on. Sometimes it would delay blower motor running, I put it off, for the most part, it worked. Today was 90+ F out, and blower motor would come on late, or not at all. I'm thinking maybe just order a "resistor", which I understand to be a speed controlling module. Any thoughts? Yesterday, AC came on 5 mins into drive, and was cold. So I assume charge is good.
Maybe a dirty relay somewhere? Can anyone post a wiring schematic for blower motor and module?
Thanks!

Don't want to start new thread for exact same problem, but I do also have DTC:
01273 - Fresh Air Blower (V2)
009 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00101001
Fault Priority: 3
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 187
Mileage: 293815 km

Date: 2023.11.02
Time: 07:22:02
Freeze Frame:
Temperature: 21.0°C
Speed: 31.0 km/h

(no units): 221.0
I must say that I have never noticed that the blower is not working (can't say for sure since it's on auto and, depending on temperature, most of the time it's on very low speed/sound) and since I don't think that a simple EM motor can easily fail (except if it's burned off completely), I was wondering has anyone had any experience on this matter in domain of worn brushes creating open circuit?
Before I dig into this (hopefully not blindly), it would be appreciated if someone can clarify a few thing for me:
-Does the wiring around the blower tends to go bad/crack or maybe control module on blower tends to fail?
-Does anyone knows can this specific blower be disassembled for repair service (replacing brushes, cleaning rotor shaft, etc)?
-Does it have CP?
