Blinky hazard light and what's that red/green light on the dash?

Blinky hazard light and what's that red/green light on the dash?
2005 A6 4.2.
My hazard light indicator inside the car (not the hazard lights outside) blinks on and off gently (doesn't ever stay lit for more than 1 second and often less). Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Ideas?
Also, I have a little red or green pin light under the info center in the middle of my dash. Sometimes its red. Then green. Then red. Any ideas?
