The audio stopped working for bluetooth phone calls in my 2005 A6. The phone still pairs, and the car recognizes incoming calls, but makes no sound at all when ringing or when you answer them. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Mine does the same thing. What kind of phone? My girls IPhone 5 works great on it. but my Galaxy doesn't.
I think it has to do with the MMI not being updated to the latest version. The dealership will update the MMI for 3 hours of labor.

If it's the same phone and it worked before I can't imagine it's MMI incompatibility or it would have never worked. Unless maybe the phone had an update, like a new android version?
If it were me I'd disconnect the battery for a while. I've read all sorts of terrible things can be forgotten by the car when you do that, but mine just forgets the time, bose settings, and one-touch windows. The idea that anyone (even Audi) would make a car that couldn't handle a battery swap is hard to believe. Move the windows all the way up and down a few times and it re-learns the windows.
I didn't have your issue, but I had an issue where neither phone nor music would play and the speakers hummed, and a battery disconnect fixed it.
At your own risk of course. Mine's a 2006. Maybe those saying the throttle needs adapted and that sort of thing after a battery disconnect have 2005s.

I like to think its a phone setting you are missing somewhere. With my windows phone my MMI does exactly that for (text messages only). thats when my phone is on vibrate... the car can't read aloud my text messages unless I increase the volume on my phone. otherwise phone calls come though with sound ... with or without my phone being on vibrate.
