You are right, I have to press Enter every time I start the car to get past the legal screen.
Any tips on how to do the software update myself since you did it yourself successfully?
I am going to try deleting the BT user profiles when I drive home today.
Will let you know.

Also, inside the central console there is a place for a craddle but no craddle there. Is the craddle missing a problem?
Thanks to all for your help

missing cradle is not a problem
i had a cradle on the clip but removed it myself
having the clip doesnt necessarily mean u have BT though bc audi maybe included that with all veh
i have BT module and ive seen some message
not sure of the exact text... could be "not connected" or "not installed" not sure
if the veh doesnt have BT module then maybe the prev owner was using an aftermarket BT device
maybe u know if he had access to his contacts thru MMI if yes then veh has BT
pressing set up didnt bring u to another screen???? hmmm
maybe u dont have BT
as far as MMI update tips...i have plenty do a search of my posts and u will find them... if i have time i will try to compile everything and do a semi step by step

I think I will call Audi tomorrow and run the VIN by them to see if I have it or not. Sticker says it has the phone prep with bluetooth technology
I dont remember if the last guy had his contacts but I definitely remember him dialing on the screen and seeing calls coming in via the green TEL interface.
But on the other hand I can't even go into TEL -> setup, so maybe I don't have bluetooth.
I am really confused now

how confident are you that the mmi rebooted correctly earlier?
when u pressed the 3 button combo ...u seen the screen go black and reboot??
maybe try it again BC i hear sometimes the 3 button combo is finicky and doesnt work every time
also
do u know how to power off the MMI *(hold down the volume button a few seconds) and u should get just the MMI into screen on the monitor
when everything is off (just the MMI into screen on the monitor) press TEL
and see if u get the pics above
