Brake caliper piston(s)????help
I'm looking to change the brake pads on my 2002 A6 3.0 quattro and I keep running across the same question, "how many pistons do the brake calipers have?" This is my first Audi and I feel like this is a noob question, but can anyone help me out?
I've been trying to find the answer in some of the forums with limited success. If i were to guess i'd say there are 2 pistons on the front brake calipers and only 1 on the rear...is that correct?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I think you're in the wrong forum. I believe your car is a C5, not a C6.
Our C6 has but a single piston per caliper in the front. I have yet to have the rears apart.

Well the C5s came with several different forms of caliper up front depending on the engine and options packages. Some were single piston calipers, and others like the HP2 caliper had 2. If I were you I would pose this question in the C5 A6 forum. Those guys would have the right answer. But I would venture to say that the 3.0 only had 1 piston per caliper.
