Brake Job - Failed Caliper?

I recently took my 2011 A6C6 (53000 mi) to an indy repair shop because my brake pads light came on. They replaced the rear pads and rotors. When the car was finished, it had the following warning lights come on:
- PARK BRAKE (Flashing) and the message Parking Brake is applied (while in motion).
- BRAKE and message Brake Pads
- TPMS and the message TPMS Malfunction
They say they don't know why this is happening but they want to change the left rear caliper. They said it must be the caliper causing the malfunction messages. They want to change the caliper but they have to order it.
This doesn't sound right. Could a failed caliper cause all these Faults? How could the caliper be bad when it seemed fine when I took it in? I am driving the car and it brakes absolutely fine (other than annoying warnings).
Thanks for any advice.

Thank you Robert,
I will mention it to them. I wonder if that could cause the TPMS Malfunction and the Brake Pads light still on (after changing pads and rotors)?
