I ask as I was a bit in disbelief to see the brake pad light on come on 2 weeks ago, at 43k miles; I had done all of this already once, only 20k prior (OEM all around that time)...
46k miles. I had new rotors and pads installed on the front at 20k, but have never done the rears. I bought the car used with 13k on the odometer. The rears are starting to squeal so time to replace. The warning light but the sound is warning enough.

Fronts are readily available: www.adamsrotors.com

Tell him Lee sent you, I had a GB post a short while ago in these forums. Otherwise, there are plenty available on eBay.

I replaced the factory pads on my A6 with EBS Red Stuff about 14 months ago because I was looking for less dust and better street feel. Neither of these benefits appeared, so about 6 months ago I replaced all the rotors and installed 760 Performance Ceramic Hawk Pads on both ends and the change was dramatic. Less dust, better cold weather bite, great pedal feel hot or cold, and overall better braking performance with HOT brakes. I totally agree with your opinion and highly recommend the Hawk 760 performance ceramic pads.

Looking into brake pads (and possibly rotors) for my S6. I think i will go with StopTech, but which ones did you get or recommend - PosiQuiet semi-metallic or StopTech Street Performance?

Also, FYI - just found out StopTech is releasing front rotors for the S6 in about 2 weeks.

Thanks-

I ended up doing Adam's slotted rotors and StopTech Streets all around in January of this year. I have been very pleased with both products.

I think most agree that red stuff isnt the best option.

How are they compare to all the others?

I love them. Absolutely no dust. The only thing I noticed is that I have more play in my calipers and they rattle more when going over road reflectors. I had similar issue with my stock pads but was told they are normal in our floating caliper design.
