Default A/C stopped working- Help

Today in central Florida, the temp got up to 86 deg F. So, it was the first day that I have had the A/C on since October. I pushed the econ button and to turn on the A/C and no cold air. Also, there is no increased power draw from the motor that usually happens when the a/c condensor pulley starts to give resistance. At at stop light, I tried the same thing and no change in rpms. Therefore, I'm under the impression that there is either something wrong with the a/c belt, condensor, or electrical signal from the 'econ' button to tell the condensor to start working.

Any thought?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

There is a TSB on the issue in the HVAC section of my TSB library, which is linked in my signature.

You mean your turned ECON off, right? ECON turns off the AC compressor.

That's correct. I push the Econ button and the little red light turns off which means the a/c should be on.

First thing I would do is scan the 08 HVAC unit for any DTCs. It could simply be the AC pressure switch. Of course, if the R-134 refrigerant is low, you will also get a DTC from the pressure switch.

Rather than pushing the ECON button, push the AUTO button and see if you get cold air.

That wasn't working either on Sunday. However, today on my way to work, I just tried it and everything is working- nice ice cold air. I guess it could have been that the first use after an extended period of time like that just was a no go.
Thanks to everybody for your help.
