Refining an already fabulous design is the purest way of getting the best build..think 911. Why do car makers completely change tooling every few years instead of concentrating on the important things like saving weight, improving handling, electronics etc etc..they constantly change major tooling because they screwed up the first design and hope something will catch on.. the record shows most could care less about the important features although economics is forcing a rethink on this idiocy.
No, as usual, Audi has it 100% correct again in the 2011 and by then I'm sure, NA will *finally get that wonderful diesel with the lightened A6....woooosh@45mpg![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I do not think the information is credible judging by the pics (one has been around for over a year, the other ones look like a C6 with fender flares) and years they belong to (for the first pic 2010, for the others 2012?).

Below the picture of the car it says that it is a rendering of the 2010 A6. They are not claiming that it is a picture of the C7. They are claiming that it is a picture of the A6 that is currently avaialble in showrooms.

Thx Keven..It pays to pay attention. I now see the greyed out credit to Larsen
Well anyway, I hope Audi doesn't do anything stupid with the 2011, I'd much prefer the lightening of the A6 plan which in itself will quite expensive to do then bodywork which needs almost nothing anyway IMO.

The C7 will probably not arrive until MY 2012. Audi tends to have 7 model years before a redesign. With the current economy I don't see them shortening it.

It's obvious that they used the old body for disguise. It's too much of a coincidence to have license plate from Ingolstadt and the flares that looks so bad on this model. You can tell from the side picture that the wheelbase is longer. But that's not new: the A6 built in China has long wheelbase.

When they are road testing new vehicles they generally tend to do so with the new bodies (refined or not) to test the body as well.
