Default Can I install the ami retrofit kit on my 2006 Audi a6?

I wanted to install the ami module on my 2006 a6 Quattro with nav according to the following instructions AMI/IPOD Retrofit for Audi MMI: March 2008

I talked to someone who was selling a ami retrofit kit and he told me that I cannot do the ami retrofit because my car is too old and wouldn't support it. He said I had to have a 2007 or newer car. Is this true? Any resources on which kit I should buy if I am able to do it?

It can be retrofitted. You would need your MMI system updated though if it doesn't recognize the AMI unit. Keep in mind also, you must have the dual slots in your glovebox as well, as the AMI unit is installed next to the CD changer.

Getting a Dension 500 Gateway is easier and cheaper...

The Denison is a good choice but you still may need to update the MMI. I had one in my 2006. I updated first so I am not certain about this. Call Enfig Car Stereo, they would know.

I've seen issues with Dension modules. One was an A8 with B&O sound system. When the car was off, the subwoofer would start to hum after a minute. Not a fan of Dension units.
