Yesterday, i parked my car at work took the key out of the ignition and when walking away i pressed the lock button on the fob and the alram wouldn't set. The key fob rapidly blink as it would if it was indicating out of range. So i got right next to the car and the result was the same when i pressed the lock button. So i thought maybe if i will start the car again and then shut it off, things would go back to normal. Well, i was able to put the key in, start the car and then turn the ignition to off; however I could not get the key out of the ignition. It was still locked in the ignition.
Fortunately; I had an extra battery for the remote in the car and i took a quarter, poped the back of the fab off, changed battery and i heard the car release the key. I walked out and the was able to lock the car with the fab.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Now if I remeber right, there is a warning light when your key fob battery is low. The car never displayed and warnigns of low battery, even when i removed the battery. Does anyone know if any of the software upgrades disable this function? I know some have stated that the battery level needed to be turned back on, could this also be another item the tech needs to turn back on?

I don't know if that's the case, but changing the battery in your car remotes every 12-18 mos is the advice I follow, whether they indicate they need them or not.

I had a similar issue, but my key never came out nor i could stop the car either, so i had to drive it to the dealer and they told me that the transmission module went bad, and the car thought it was still in drive mode.
