Carbon build up? My CEL lights up about week ago. Now, i was always driving in the D
mode, but lately i did shift into S mode. Now, this is the 3rd time i have used S mode and every time after using S mode, my CEL was gone after restart. Let say Monday i was driving in the S mode from work and when i restart the car Tuesday morning, CEL was gone. Tuesday i drive in D mode to work and when i restart the car on my way home CEL came back...

Thomas,
It could be coincident while you're doing mode shift. My car CEL came and gone many time before going into permanent CEL ON. You may need Throttle body and MAF sensor cleanup.

car is running great or the same as i bought it (about 9mo ago)...
and my mpg is excellent. On my recent trip, i did get 33.1mpg and after driving thru the town i end up with 32mpg (all numbers from trip computer, but still) and my AC was fixed and on. I even saw highest miles to go yet 680 after driving about 45miles when i fill her up.

I noticed, that cel comes up after a lot of short trips in town or when I jerk motor a lot (i.e. S mode)
The cel goes away after a few long steady rides on highway.
Same was mentioned by techs.
I think that motor produces carbon buildup during cold starts and hard accelerations. But somehow goes away during steady driving.

CEL was just coincident, They check the code today and they got 008304, 008198 and 008199 for Intake flap issue. They test the system and found vacuum supply to the solenoid. Problem was vacuum line was split.
