Hi All, I'm an Audi newbie. Some years ago, I rented an A8 with a 8 cylinder turbo for a week it Italy, and I feel in love. Back home, we have trucks and minivans, but the kids are older now and I got rid of my fishing boat and bought a small new construction home so I don't need all that anymore and the truck and minivan have been sold. A friend was in a hurry to sell his 2011 S6 and so I bought it. I did it on a lark, but now it's my daily driver and I love it. I don't drive much; I work from home, so I don't mind the milage and I love the sound.
However, I was just at a stop light next to a Chrysler (my son thinks it was a 200, but I'm not sure). What I am sure of is that I did the thing I almost never do as he revved his engine and floored it when the light changed. This guy beat me! Buy a good margin!
I'm not a sports car driving type, I don't 'need' speed. But when I put the pedal to the floor of a 5.7L v10 Lambo engine, I expect to blow away just about anybody I'm next to.
When I got this car, a friend asked me if it was 'chipped' and explained to me that you could swap out or otherwise adjust software / firmware and free up some horsepower and somehow also get better milage. I should point out that I do almost all the work on my own cars, electronic, head gasket replacement, lots of stuff like that.
So at this point, my question should be apparent. I've seen stuff out there for $50-$3000 that interfaces via OBD and make all sorts of claims. I'm not spending $3000 or probably not even $1000, but I was hoping you all could tell me what the recommendation is if you want to explore this option. If I've posted to the wrong place, please accept my apologies and let me know where to post this question. Thanks in advance!

If this went down as described it was not a Chrysler 200 but maybe a 300 SRT in which case his 0-60 is as fast if not faster than yours (he's sub 5 you are @ 5) if both are stock. Google Audi S6 tune and you'll see APR and JHM both had tunes, not sure if they are still available. Reality is there are a lot of cars that are sub 5 seconds 0-60 since 2011 .

Have you done the carbon cleaning, from what I understand, this is a big drain on power. Also, unless you put it in either Sport mode or manual, you will not be nearly as quick as if you did.
