Reservoir return nipple snapped off and am having to replace the front coolant pipe. I Went to drain the system and the valve went CCW but stopped about ~5-10 degrees short of the full quarter turn and no drain popped down out of the drain valve.
Please advise. The valve turns pretty freely between locked out and draining positions except that last bit its being super resistant.

I figured out the valve. Got it to pull out and started draining. Opened the bleed valve on the heater core line under the cowl cover. But Less then a gallon came out and i still have fluid in the crossover pipe which is my ultimate objective here.
Any advice here would be highly welcomed. Thanks in advance.

You should get one of these for coolant hose clamps.

I have a 2010 A4 (B8). I went after a coolant leak and found it but I could never get this drain valve to seal again. Any one else have experience with this? Is it possible for the O-ring/gasket on the drain valve to go bad after years. I jerry rigged a plug over the valve that seems to be holding coolant until I can get the car in. I just did the water pump a month ago so that can't be the problem but If I still loose coolant after this, what are the chance of the radiator or heater core going bad?

You should post your question on the A4 B8 forum, and ID which engine you have. This forum covers the C6 A6 platform, which had the 3,2.L V6, the supercharged 3.0L V6, and the 4.2L V8.
