Default Deactivating MMI when ignition is off...

If you withdraw the key from the ignition and press the main MMI button, you can access various functions such as the radio while the key is not in the ignition. Very nice.

Now to the problem part. I have found no way of turning the radio or MMI off. I thought to myself "If I leave the car and lock it using the remote, surely that'll turn off the MMI" - wrong! I did this, and returned to my car 15 minutes later, and the radio and MMI screen were still on!

The only way I could find to turn these off was to insert the key, turn it one click, then take it out again.

No wander I've been reading dead battery stories! How crazy that it is so easy to accidentally leave features on that will completely deplete your power when you don't want it to!

Default Did you try pressing the manual on/off **** on the center console?

That turns the system off, although; just as in the C5 you have to turn the system back on the next time you start the car. If manually turned on, MMI is supposed to shut off after 10 min. unless another function is accessed, in which case, the 10 min. starts over. (according to the owner's manual)

Is the manual on/off **** that you refer to also the volume control?

If so, all that happens when you push it in is mute. It doesn't power down at all.

I have noticed what you mean about the radio.

I have also looked for a way to turn off the Air Conditioner. There is no on/off switch/button.

Default (Retained power) features

In both the A6 and the A8 the mmi can be turned on and off without the key in the ignition. To turn it off you must hold the volume/on/off button for about 3 secomds. Whne the key is not in th ignition the MMI system will stay on for about an hour before shutting down.

As for turning off the HVAC in the A6 the econ button is also the on/off button. Hold it for about 4 seconds and it will shut down the HVAC system. All of these things shoud have been shown to you abd explained during your delivery.

Default Explained During Delivery...Novel Idea

Of course, the engineer in me is thinking, "No offense to you, Mr. Salesman, since I think you've done a wonderful job, but please just let me go home without any explanation and learn through tinkering!"
