I had today off. So, I changed the oil on the '06 C6 3.2 I just got. That's always a good way to start your relationship with a new (to you) car. You'll see a lot.
I found a lot of oil leaking on the back of the engine, facing the firewall. Î had a ton oil on the middle of the belly pan & could see it pretty high up on the back of the engine from underneath. I'm assuming it's the tensioner covers leaking.
How hard is it to get in there & reseal them. I'll probably do the can covers, too, at the same time.
BTW, the oil that came out of the engine was extremely dirty. I'm thinking that the PO just kept adding oil, as it leaked. So, it doesn't look like the oils been changed in a while. The filter was pretty dirty too. But, so far, I'm not hearing any tensioner noise, even on cols start after sitting for a few days. Maybe, I'm overly cautious, but that oil & filter were awfully dirty. We'll see. Time will tell.
I bought this car from a used car dealer, who bought it from another local new car dealer who took it in on trade. It's got 152k miles, but aesthetically the car is in great shape.
So, how easy is it to reseal the tensioner covers & change the cam cover gaskets?
