Would that be an indication of the ballast/igniter going? I mean the bulb turns on and I usually leave it on the auto setting but for some reason like if I play with the switch and turn it to off and then full on or auto it will turn on.

I think what most of us would do is switch the bulbs between L and R and see what effect that has. If the problem persists on the same side, it's not the bulb and more likely a ballast

I don't even know what car you have, so I cannot advise if your car has a separate igniter or not. (C6.5 has D3S bulbs and have integrated igniters on the bulb base, so they are replaced when the bulbs are)

I went and switched bulbs or really like swapped bulbs with the left and right and tightened the connections and it fired right up. This car came from florida and i'm in colorado, might not be used to the altitude lol.
