VCDS retracts the parking prake plunger you still have to push the hydraulic system back. I just finished mine this morning.

Use the bently procedure and things go super smoothly.

I replaced both the front and rear brake pads on my '06 A6 Avant last Sept w/o any problems. Followed the Bentley Manual procedure. What's your questions re: fronts?

Quick question. Our rear brakes DOES NOT HAVE WEAR SENSORS? Funny because I always thought that we have wear sensors on all four wheels?

The VAG-COM is just for the electronic parking brak part, not the piston for the actual brake caliper. You still have to move that in by hand

Default Superb!

This was awesome. I tried to do this, but it all stopped when I got to the bottom 18mm hanger/carrier bolt. The top one I got out easy, but no wrench or tool I had could reaxh the bottom one. I have an Audi A6 Allroad (4FH) C6 model with the 3.0tdi engine. I thought one had to disassemble the carrier/hanger to get the disc off (like on the front brakes), but in this Diy you say that the hanger/carrier does not need to come off? I will try to bang the disc off tomorrow and see if it works. If not I am afraid that I must disassemble the rear suspension arm to get access to the rear lower carrier bolt.... Can anyone in this thread confirm that you do NOT need to take off the carrier to get the discs off?

Yes did mine this summer and the disc came off without disassembly. My car is a 11 A6 (non- all road US) with 347 MM front discs if I recall correctly.

Default Turn off key switch after retracting epb

I just did my rear and front brakes on A6 Allroad C6 4F (3.0tdi) with vagcom. But as it says on rosstech page, after you have done channel 07 retracting operation, you should wait 30 seconds before turning the key off. Aka no need to leave the ignition ON during break disc/pad change. That way you will not use the car battery either. BUT you must connect a solid battery charger BEFORE doing vagcom work on te epb because the battery could be too low voltage (especially during winter time). I think if the voltage is below 12,5v or so, the closing and opening procedure on epb could damage the epb motor if power is out. I have 2 battery intelligent chargers, one that has 5a power output and another that has 25a output. The car battery is 100ah capasity. I use te 25a charger when doing vcds work on the car and the 5a charger is in use once a month during wintertime to top off the battery. It is cold here in norway...
