Default Engine Model Code: where to find?

How do I tell what my engine code is that identifies the model? (example: Engine code BNK)

If you have a VCDS, this can be pulled directly by going to the engine field.

If not, then It should be a label in the spare tire wheel well, which states it as well as all the options on your vehicle. Lastly you can check details right here: https://www.audiworld.com/model/index.html

Not sure, but on the 06 A6 4.2, if fully electronic sequential injection is FSI, then this is not entirely true. It seems there were both FSI and Non-FSI 4.2 for that model year.
