Hi, my ESP/ABS lights come on randomly lately. I've read that this is a common issue in audi's...does anyone know how to fix this? I tried replacing the brake light switch for an easy fix but that didn't work?

Oh, I'm also getting a Parking Brake Malfunction light on now too...oh and my centre brake light goes out when I push down on the pedal a certain amount.

The ABS and Parking brake problems seem to be a common problem at 70,000 miles plus...have the same thing, not to mention my mmi went out for the second time along with my second oil leak. Smh.

2 MMI's? Just curious, were they both made in germany..I've got a thing about
chinese parts for our Audi's and I've noticed a few dealers will go that direction. Also, did Audi authorize the last head unit since it needs to be config'd in the sys computer, not really a shade tree job.
What oil leak?

Today my car has been having trouble shifting. I've read that this could be the a bad/old battery or being caused by the ABS module. Basically the car has put itself into "limp" mode. Has anyone else experienced this same thing?

Note: no lights were on on my dash when this happened...

I've somthing similar, ESP light, trouble shifting in auto, go to tip and its fine. Light goes out after a restart. I think its the battery. I posted this elewhere:
I have a series of faults similar to this that seem to have occured together. It started with the four quiescent current faults as in the first post, I ignored them as they didn't set off any lights, and were probably due to replacing the battery with a secodhand one which had plenty of life in it, but old nonetheless (08). The new faults are a coulple of throtle actuator and angle sensor ones, the clue in the first one is the recorded voltage of 9.779 and the under voltage statement. These in themselves are not an issue, but I also have an ESP fault which lights the dash lamps, and wont go out until I stop the car, ignition off, then start and resume and it goes off after a few hundred yards. I'm guessing all these are related to the battery condition in the first stages after starting, though it can happen well into a drive when you would expect the battery voltage to be OK. The ESP fault is sporadic as are the others, so it has to be something temporary, rather than a faulty component. Heres the fault logs and some block readings from the battery regulator controller and the ABS controller. The throttle actuator one is recorded at 95 RPM which is cranking speed on starting, hence the low voltage, the other two kick in at 106KPH and when the engine temp is 96. The ABS one is related to another fault code found in the engine ECM, they all happen at the same time.
The values from the battery regulator measuring blocks dont give me much of a clue, I don't know how to interpret the measuring block three reading for battery (ageing) with a reading of 0Ah. The Next blocks are from the ABS, the only curious one here is the lateral acceleration of -.19M/s/s, which is a change of speed from 0 to 8 inchs per second over a period of one second. The car was stationary, so shouldn't this be zero. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT. No figures for A6 on VCDS website but Lateral acc. figures for A8 are +-. 5, so -.19 would seem well in spec. My money's on the battery, hard to justify a new one when the old one never fails to start.
