"Extended Warranty"

Hello everyone. I posted earlier about my plans to by an 2006 A6 and am still looking to follow through with that. However I was concerned with the warranty so I asked the dealer what they offered. First off, it's at 40k miles so it's still covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and the dealer can also give me an "extended warranty" to 100k miles from Audi. My question is, does Audi even give extended warranties, and is it worth it? Also, I'm actually from Canada and will be purchasing the vehicle there and driving it down to the states. Would the vehicle still be covered in the US and be able to be repaired at no cost at the dealers there? It would be troublesome to drive back to Canada just to get it repaired.
Thank you.
Thank you.

were they referring to the Certified Pre-Owned program? If so it's 2 years after your new manufacturer's warranty is up or 100k miles. As much as I've read here everyone suggests going for the CPO program. I got mine with CPO and I think it will pay off in the end.
And as far as crossing borders, I have no clue. Call a US dealer and ask maybe?

Better yet, call your insurance company and see what they offer for mechanical breakdown Insurance (MBI), usually they cover more and for a lot less than most warranty companies do. Also you can usually break that into small payments along with your regular car insurance.
OR figure that almost ALL warranties pricing is based on an average of what is costs to repair that car on average, plus about 20% profit. If you are REALLY worried, you could place that same amount of cash in a savings account, and pull from it if you need. Chances are, you'll end up with cash to spare.

There was a member here named "Bruce" that was selling extended warranties and can be found lurking on a few of the other Audi forums.
I tried emailing him maybe a month ago but never got a response.
There is also a member here selling his 2005 A6 4.2 that says he purchased a 3rd party extended warranty from "Bruce." You can may look into that.
From what I have been sourcing together... a lot of people are saying the CPO program is just a marketing gimmick and the warranty is extremely limited and does not cover items such as Navigation. I have read some people to suggest even forgetting a CPO car and just purchase an Audi Care warranty which covers more items than the CPO.
On a side note, does anyone think the 2006 A6 prices will be dropping much since the 2007 lease returns will start to come in starting September 2009?
