Default folding side mirrors

2008 A6 Avant S Line, 3.2Q

Why won't my side mirrors automatically fold in when I turn the car off, is this a VAG-COM option?

I am relatively sure some other marques will do this, Merc anyone?

thanks for any available information

What's the point of having them to fold?

I think you need to do it manually.

when you park car on NY street, you do not want snow plow or an idiot to snap side mirror.

I also do not understand logic of the folded mirrors. I cannot fold mirrors with ignition off. I cannot fold them while driving. The do not auto fold on turning off. they do not auto - unfold when I turn on ignition.

Thats one thing I really like about our Merc they fold when you lock and unfold when you unlock. I think they also unfold when they get to a certain speed, but i don't remember I haven't drove my mom's car in a while. I do know that with both the Audi and the Merc you can only fold the mirrors below a certain speed. This I guess answers one of your questions about why you can't fold them while driving.

You can't program with Vag-Com to fold. You will need additional relays.

well that's too bad, really. poorly done. and yes, krustyx, unless you've replaced a side mirror you might not see the logic

I believe that this is an option that only comes with the memory seat package

My 08 A6S has memory seats but the mirrors still only fold manually.

For MYs 2006 and 2007, they were part of the optional Premium and Convenience packages, respectively.
