I am experiencing the standard minor VC oil leaks (and stinky smell) in cold weather due to, I'm assuming, a frozen breather hose. When the the weather warms up above freezing, my oil leak issues disappear. (No problems all last summer)
I replaced the suction pump/green check valve last summer. The suction pump was still good, but the green check valve WAS blocked!
Since the check valve was blocked, I didn't bother to replace the breather hose itself, assuming that the check valve caused my crankcase pressure issues last winter. I am now planning to replace the breather hose assembly as well once the weather warms up.
I reviewed the archives, and it seems that even replacing the breather hose isn't a guarantee against it freezing/blocking up again.
Has anyone come across a good permanent solution to solve, once and for all the 2.8 crankcase pressurization issue?? (other than selling the car....which I am seriously considering!!!!)
