Why do you say that? Thanks.

I am guessing he is going to tell you that the 3.2 is slow and he wants the fun and the sound of the 4.2.

My wife's previous car was a 2006 A6 4.2 (before FSI). We saw an average of 20 MPG with 50/50 city/highway driving. We had Audi Care, so no maintenance charges until 55k service -- which was quoted to us at about $850. However, we decided to trade for a 2009 S6 since our lease was coming to an end. She wanted more power...

BTW, doing 85 / 95 or 100 MPH is insane. What do you guys think - you're on the Autobahn?
You would get run over in the left lane... and maybe the middle lane... in Mass Interstate roads (and some state highways) if you did anything less than 80 MPH.

and 90 MPH on a three lane interstate with appropriate traffic level, weather and lighting (i.e. daytime or lighted at night) is not even close to insane... or Autobahn speeds.

This car was meant to run at those speeds... all day long.

My 4.2 turns only 2,200 rpm or so at 80 MPH....

On my way back to CT from Boston, I drove side by side with another A6 but 4.2. We both pulled from 70-around 100. I pushed my hard while he's pulling up effortlessly. That's when I started to think about the 4.2 A6. Last week, my friend got a used 745i. I got to drive it back from Cape Cod while he was driving another car in front for almost 3 hours. Now I love the V8!

Does your wife have a sister? Don't tell my wife that I asked.

2nd... autobahns are really no different that interstates (granted they are in 1000 times better shape)... the primary difference is that people on the autobahn know driver etiquette... pppl in the US do not...

X2. That makes a huge difference versus some idiot in a camry sitting in the left lane doing 60mph and everyone being forced to drive around him/her while they sit there oblivious.

Today I saw some other pics of the 4.2 I'm looking at buying and there are a few concerns.

It looks like the rear seat behind the driver might have some stains/marks on the Amaretto leather and there also looks to be fairly large paint marks/scratches in three places on the body. I know I'm buying a used car but I don't want to spend that kind of money for a car that looks beaten up.

To further complicate things, I found a 2007 3.2Q with full s-line Pkg (sport springs, wheels, seats etc.) with Prem and weather Pkgs and Nav with 33K miles for $32.5K. The car looks super clean inside and out. Decisions..decisions. :-)
