German Castrol 0W30 OR Mobil1 5W40?
I know both are 502.00 VW approved, but which one is better for the 3.2 FSI?
Also I don't have access to Mann filters easily, is it ok to use NAPA/WIX oil filters?
Newb questions i know

Either oil is fully acceptable and will give good results. I suppose the 0W30 might give you a slight edge in terms of cold starting...assuming you get winter wherever you are.
A lot of the oil filters you buy from the local store are just re-boxed OE filters.
It's ideal to try and plan ahead - - purchase a few oil filters on-line, they'll be a fraction of what you pay at the local store and the mfr will be known to you

Thanks for the help, and yes I meant M1 0W40 (since M1 5W40 isn't even VW 502.00 approved).
Guess I'll stick to GC 0W30 since the manual states 0W30 was the initial oil filled in the motor.

There is a new Mobil 5W40 which does meet some of the Euro mfr specs. It could be very difficult to locate.
You should be able to find Castrol 0W30 or 5W40 at Autozone...both meeting 502.00, of course.

Castrol is not German made. WIX filters will cost you alittle more then what Audi uses..at least here locally.
