1st car in my name

Intermittently my car is making a grinding/rattling type of noise when starting. I have been able to record various iterations of the noise in this video going from worse sounding to not so bad, but still there. Other times it will start without any of these noises. Any ideas on what it could be?

Sorry I cannot be of much help (my 2006 Avant w/37k miles does not make the noise you recorded) but I did have a question about the leather on your car. My Moroni show a leather option called "Volterra" which cost $1,000. Is the Amaretto you list another leather option for cars from our model year?

I have the same symptom going off and on too. Check my post about this, KevinGary's explanation makes sense to me. I will be bringing mines within the next couple of weeks and see what they find.

"Volterra" is a type of premium leather. Amaretto is a leather color choice. (Also it is Monroney.)

Thanks gk1. Whatever Volterra is mine still smells like leather after 5.5 years. It is not real soft but seems to be holding up well, no cracks or visible wear.
