Default HELP! OBD II Code P008B

CEL came on yesterday with no noticable problems/symptom with the car. In fact I drove for another 80+ miles today, made a stop at Starbucks, when trying to start the car again, it all started to act weird. It feels as if the engine was stalling like driving a manual. The engine would rev up normally and then drop the revs all of a sudden down to 200~400rpm or so and then come to a stop, EPC light comes on and engine shuts off. Sometimes it would stay at around 1000rpm and the car would not accelerate whatsoever even with my foot on the gas. Eventually I got my car to the shop and they did a quick scan for codes and it pulled "P008B" from their OBDII scanner. Any ideas guys?

I did some search when I got home and I see some guys at VW forum said it's a bad low fuel pressure sensor. Anyone has the similar experience?

I would have guessed coil packs.

By the way here is a link to many of of the Audi codes.

I can't find the code P008B on that list at all. Any ideas?

and if it's coil pack problem, wouldn't CEL give codes for cylinder misfiring? what are the symptoms or problems you would experience if it's the coil pack problem?

thanks in advance!

I had the coil pack issue a few weeks ago. To me, it felt like only half the cylinders were working. The engine was very sluggish, and felt like it was misfiring. My CEL was blinking, as well. Hope that helps!

to elaborate what I experienced yesterday a lil more. The condition of the car was not even drivable. At initial ignition, the engine would lag until i give it some gas before it would fire up. Then it would run normal for 5~10 seconds. It would eventually lose power and shuts up and then "EPC" light comes on. If I keep it reved up and shift to Drive, it would run for a short distance normally, and as the rev goes down with higher gear, it would sometimes lose response doesn't matter if i stomp my foot on the gas pedal or not, and then intermittently come back to life and run for a short distance and then same thing would happen again. And couple of times the engine would just shut off in the middle of the road and I have to fire up the engine again.

Does that sound like a ignition coil problem to you guys? Or maybe something along the fuel supply line? My car do have longer crank time sometimes in the morning and as I give it some gas the engine would fire up normal.

I've never seen a VAG OBD code given with a letter, but perhaps their tool is giving it in HEX in which case P008B would be P0139 which is "O2 Sensor Circ.,Bank1-Sensor2 Slow Response" according to the pdf. I wouldn't think an O2 sensor slow response problem with give the symptoms you are describing though.

Hello, did this problem ever get sorted out? What was the issue? Was it fuel related or coil pack and spark plug related. I had very similar symptoms in my b7 a4 3.2 the other day. Had to ride the clutch on the way home and rev the engine to have it stall around 10 mph each time. Doesn’t matter what gear I was in. I know your car is automatic but the symptoms are almost identical in my car. Let me know if you every figured it out.
