Default Hid bulb

Merry Christmas all!
143,000 miles in and I finally need to change a headlamp bulb. I was wondering about what kind of luck everyone has had with aftermarket h/l bulbs. I don't know who makes the oem's so I was looking for guidance. I tried aftermarket side marker bulbs and two lasted 3 weeks and a year later, the oem is still working. With the pain it will be to replace the h/l bulbs, I don't want to do this twice(at least till I rack up the mileage again).

Thanks,
Bob

OEM bulbs are probably made by Osram Sylvania. When ever I change a bulb (just did the front side marker bulbs on my '06 A6 Avant), I always try to buy OEM bulbs.

One my bulbs died in my Avant this past summer as well, and I elected to replace both. OEM are made my Osram / Sylvania and I picked them up here:

Highly recommend going OEM over aftermarket.

I've always come with OEM for most parts, but always choose OEM for bulbs. Just like you Bob, I noticed a significantly quicker failure rate of non OEM bulbs vs the real deal

I used an aftermarket HID bulb from HIDExtra.com. It has been about 4 years on the bulb without any issues.

SchwartzS6, do you know the proper alignment/the location of the notches on the flange
on the bulb?

I've bought numerous sets of HID kits and bulbs from DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting and have never had any issues with any of them. They have good prices as well!!!

If it is not in my writeup then I do not know. I seem to remember the orientation was obvious.
