I recently brought my car (06 A6 Avant) to the dealer for some issues one of which was a high pitched noise I recently experienced when the car was stored overnight in the cold. The dealer is giving me the impression that this is normal. Is this really a normal noise for this car or is it an indication that the secondary air pump is failing/malfunctioning/dying?

Are you 100% sure the 06 A6 3.2 would not have a secondary air pump? I have no doubt that you are, but I just want to make sure because that part has been mentioned twice by my service advisor. Also, the invoice states no abnormal noises when car started cold "only normal secondary air pump noise." I have issues with and plan to question whether a high pitched noise at cold startup would be normal to begin with, but you're saying that the part doesn't even exist?
