Hi all,
I am looking for a hitch for my 2008 A6 Avant 3.2. I'll probably be using it mostly to either tow a trailer with a sport bike on it. Or mount a rack with the sport bike onto that hitch (something like this http://www.versahaul.com/vhsportro.php though a less likelier option)
I am trying to narrow down the hitch options. Here are the things I know so far:
- there is no Audi OEM hitch for my model, so I have to find an aftermarket one
- the only interesting thing I found in the owners manual that's worth mentioning is this "Maximum trailer weight - a trailer for your vehicle is limited to a typical class 1 or class 2 trailer".
- I also found out this neat diagram for the trailer classes:

- my mechanic friend told me that often times a hitch installation requires to drill and/or cut pieces of your rear bumper
- and finally I have seen tons of different after market options that confused the heck out of me as I am a noob at this hitch thing.
So my question is - could anyone of you recommend a hitch that you may have used and that would be relatively easy to install?
Thanks in advance,

No experience in this, but this one looks like it doesn't require any cutting:

The A6 Avant has a trailer hitch option in Europe, and it's an amazing hitch because it stays hidden until you need it.
But of course Canadians and Americans get fu@#$%^ out of cool options, not to even mention the 2012 A6 Avant which I'm fuming about.
Check out this video here to see what I mean about the OEM hitch!
