Just came home from a movie. I went to a new freeway without much traffic on the way home.

I was on the left lane and driving at around 85 MPH. Out of nowhere, this new gray Merc E550 appeared suddenly and was on my tail.

I knew that this freeway had a lot of cops. So I let him by, but I went back to the left lane and tailed the freakish driver and I think he was steady at 110 MPH because I went to tail him and caught up with him at about 108 MPH (I was 3-4 car lengths from him.) Then, i came to my senses and slowed down.

After 3 minutes, my Valentine One radar was screaming BEEP BEEP BEEP. I was still about 90 MPH and I slammed the brakes and moved to 65 MPH.
The Merc now disappeared as the road bends towards the right.

About 40 seconds after I slowed down and went behind a mini-van in the middle lane, I then saw a State Trooper from the opposite directional lane make a super fast U-turn in our left lane (blowing dust!) and going after a some car ahead of me with full sirens. At this point, I didn't see the Merc E550 as the road bends.

I was telling my wife - Jezz that cop must be after the Merc. The state troopers car was zooming fast and accelerating & it disappeared on another bend. In about 30 seconds, we saw the state trooper car at a distance with a car in front of it. As we approach the trooper's car, it was the Merc E550. God! State Trooper must have clocked him at 110 MPH.

Thanks again to my Valentine One. I Never drive above 80MPH without it.

damn...lucky man... could've got you as well but decided to go for the benz ))

i've had some close calls with my BEL-940... although it doesn;t pick up the new POP radar very well...time for the new 995...

i would get the Val-one if it had a nicer display... maybe one day Valentine will get with the times

To put things in perspective. 5.5 litres is more displacement than M5 or S6.

I was very lucky once myself in my clk55 in upstate NY, was doing 285 kph when I screamed by a unmarked. He turned his lights on for a second then off as I became a spec in the distance. I was sure he would have called ahead but I never ran into anything.

Had the air-box changed, computer re-maped including transmition, gearing changed from 2.92 to 3.07 went from stock 342hp to 403 on the dyno. 0-60 4.49 1/4 in 12.2 at 127 mph. It was a lot of fun . and yes the 155 mph limiter was removed. fastest I had it was 294 kph. digital speedo as the analoge only goes to 280.

The 2001 CLK55 was 5.4L naturally asperated. I would have loved the Kompressor from the E55 but they never did release it. Even now the CLK AMG is now the 6.3L no supercharger but only in convertable in North America from what I understand.
