Couldn't dodge the rock at 75mph a few days ago.
Now I have to get a new windshield... was gonna repair (crack wasn't spreading) until the temperature here in TX went up to 85 today. That caused the windshield to flex a little I think and the crack grew 8" in length.
Anyway, shopped for glass and Safelite wanted $657. Local Audi dealer is doing for about $500 using OEM glass. This is on a 2005 A6.

...I fall way back or hit the hammer and get around it. Here in FL they are supposed to be covered, but the stuff still gets out. The real problem here besides stupid dumpers is all the stupid rednecks who lose ladders and wheelbarrows on the highway because they don't tie them down.

paid minus $500 deductible. same thing happened. rock hit then spidered out. the glass company had to do it twice as the first replacement had a sound coming from somewhere on the top of the glass. They said it was a problem with most Lexus' when they replace the windshield. And usually when they replace a windshield the glass is fit so tight they break.

It sucks that people can't be more responsible.
The last time a windhsield cracked though was 2 days before I was to return my BMW 323Ci at lease end. Som jackass on the road didn't like that a slower car moved into his lane, so he passed the slower car on the shoulder, kicking up all kinds of rock and debris. Glad it was so important to get around.
BMW charged me $500 for the windshield, but we negotiated to $250.

Two weeks ago, a giant plastic dish (don't even know what it was) flew right off a truck, hit a girl's windshield (just shattered it), then flew right into the side of my bumper and exploded under the wheel. I had so much damage, they had to repaint the whole driver's side of the car + bumper. The guy never even slowed down.
