If you had to choose between black or silver, which would you choose and why?

silver, because black is just too much work. I have a black 4.2 and it drives me crazy. everything shows, sucks!

Black will be a total pain in your *** if you're even slightly meticulous about your cars; any defects (swirl marks, etc.) are obvious, and it gets dirty the second after you wash it.

love my silver a6. great color, shines well, looks great in indirect light (dawn and dusk), and hides swirls and dirt well. also looks nice with the black trim and tinted windows. had a black loaner and messed with my detailing arsenal for grins. got dusty and dirty literally an hour later. black is a serious full time job. no thanks.
essentially, silver is a more exotic white. although gun-metal gray is a worthy option to look at.

I had a black MkIII Jetta VR6 and allthough I loved how elegant and sexy it looked when it was clean, it really was a PITA to keep it that way. Had to dust it twice a day just to have it look descent. Go with silver. Or in my case...Canyon Red.

Silver. I had black once...only once...never again.

I have an '05 in "Oyster Grey," or whatever the heck it's called. It's a nice compromise between the two. Dark(charcoal grey), but the grey metallic makes it show less dirt and swirls, etc.
It wouldn't have been my first color choice, but it was a CPO with all the right options. In any event, I find I'm quite pleased with the color, and would recommend it if it's still offered.

requires a lot more work to keep clean. Plus, living here in Fl it gets very hot most of the year.
Silver is great. Looks cleaner, stays cooler and is easy to live with.
Either way, you will like the looks of either color.
