My rear passenger brake light/turn signal intermittently goes out. I replaced the bulb as a long shot, but it didn't help. It seems to only go out in the extreme heat, when I've left my car in parked in a lot at 100+ degrees. I don't see the issue in the mornings or at night, just when it's ridiculously hot out. So what's going on here? Do I have a short?

Is it LED or a regular bulbs?
What you should check is the connectors? The ground pin is always an issue. Just clean it by sanding and buying electrical grease to prevent that from happening.
If that doesn't fix the issue then try replacing the unit.
