Could anyone advise if it is possible to buy an approved Audi accessory to connect and operate my Ipod to the factory MMI system or should I go for the Phatnoise system? Any help much appreciated before I order the new A6.

... but so far, nothing has been announced or even been for sale.

I spoke with an Audi engineer in January and he told me that they are working on a solution for the A6, but he didn't believe that this solution would be retrofittable to existing cars.

I've given up for now. In my eyes, one of the few weaknesses of the C6 A6 is the lack of MP3 capability of the 6 CD changer (Ford can do that on a $11,000 Focus, so why can't Audi do it on a $45,000 A6???) or a decent iPod integration.

I guess you can always try one of the radio frequency thingies, although personally I don't care for that.

Apart from that, you're about to buy an outstanding car, so don't let this deter you from going for an A6. Maybe someone is going to come up with a solution for the iPod soon ...

Appreciate the response. I'll just have to get the Phatnoise and run another peripheral to my pc. I've tried the fm modulators and they're useless. Now just need to sell the Allroad (in which I put a Dension Ice Link plus(unreliable)).

I don't think Phatnoise is compatible with the MMI controlled A6/A8s either.

2Cd changers it will have to be. Can't believe it. Whatcar.co.uk reckons ipod connection is an option but the dealer said not and so do you, so that's that then. Thanks for help. Still going to order a 3.0 TDi Quattro Avant S-line in Phantom Black with privacy glass, it looks too good and drives a million times better than my Allroad.

I heard from Audi's customer service line was that there was something coming late summer early fall. No information as to what model years it would/wouldn't support (ie: 2007+ only or will it support 2005 and 2006 as well).

A Canadian Audi dealer tells me there will be a solution avaialable on orders beginning in June. I cancelled my order on my new A6 4.2 in March but will be ordering one from the factory in June with (hopefully) the iPod connection

The solution will probably arrive in the UK next year and I can't wait till then. Just ordered a 3 litre diesel a6 avant tiptronic s-line in phantom black and I'll cross my fingers that some sort of retro fit gadget will emerge, though better than the dension ice link.

Is the D+P compatible, wired that is?

Found out you can wire it up as an FM modulator with reduced sound quality, so not a great solution
