My 2008 A6 started to have felt HID headlight problem. When I manually switch from DLR to HID often only right headlamp turns on. When I switch back and forth from DRL to HID sometimes they both turn on, sometimes only the right one. Any suggestions? The car is still under warranty but the dealer is 170mi away.

I recorded a video. In this one on first attempt only right HID turns one. Second attempt both. Third attempt only right again. Forth attempt both. 50/50. What should I do? Thanks.

Unfortunately you may have to make the trip to the dealer to try replacing the bulb. I had both HID bulbs go out on my previous 2008 A6.
Fortunately, Audi just sent out letters saying HID bulbs are now covered under warranty.

Your bulb is dead... just replace the bulbs.

It is not normal to see a stock HID bulb up green/blueish and even purple.

Oh no the color is fine, must be the reflection. Just an issue with left HID.
Also I might have mad a mistake by saying "HID" where my car has "Xenon"?

CORBETT, yes, i was told for the right side all i have to do is remove the air intake filter which i have done it before so it should not be a problem. or maybe it will. i will let u know once i receive the item and replace it...

take it to the dealer, there is a recall for the hid bulbs, they will replace it for free!!

if you present the receipt from the replacement bulb to the dealer, they will reimburse you for the hid bulb.
