Hello to All. I am getting ready to purchase a car and have been considering an Audi. Specifically and A6 or S6. With the price I have in mind, I can get a pretty new nicely equipped A6 or an S6 around the 2008-2009 year. I am thinking of going the S6 route however, since I am looking for something that not everyone has. I do have some concerns. Maintenance being the biggest concern. I know its a V-10 based off of a Lambo, however it has Audi DNA all through it and has to be reliably. I was hoping that maybe a few veteran forum members could email me or respond here with there feedback in regards to typical maintenance and things to look out for specifically with an 08-09 S6 V-10. Thanks.

Hi, i have had a 2008 S6 for 3yrs now. It's been very good to me. Oil change will run you about $250. This is done at every 10k miles or so. I'm been told over a year ago by the dealer that i have to replace engine mounts which is going to ran me like 800-1000. Brakes will also run you about the same. You can change the front brakes and rotors yourself but do NOT even think of attempting the rear ones, because it has an electric parking brake so it needs the computer to tell it to open the calipers. Found that out the hard way. The engine has been pretty much bulletproof and i haven't had any issues. I will however strongly recommend the extended warranty since this car is not a cheap car to fix if something goes wrong. Hope this helps.
