Default MMI Excuse?

I have had a really good relationship with my service advisor, who has always gone one step beyond for me. I have been asking him for the MMI update for our 2006 A6 for several months. He keeps telling me that they are still waiting for the disk. I am in the U.S., and it seems everyone and their brother has been able to get the update from reading posting on the forum. Is there a new update that is supposed to be coming out, or is the dealer just delaying me?

Here is the information you'll need. It's called the DSP Surround Sound fix. Reference TSB #9107 08 2013108/2 dated Feb 20, 2007. I gave a copy to my dealer along with the information on the MMI upgrade CD. (CD 4FO 906 961 AB) It also helps if you present him with a letter stating you have and intermittent DSP Surround Sound problem and you want it fixed. Once it's documented and in his hands, it's hard for them to ignore.

My dealer ordered the disk and a few days later it came in and he installed the 33.6.0 update in my car. Problem solved. (See *Note below and picture above)

Tell your dealer he can order the MMI update CD right now from Audi. All he has to do is have his parts department order CD 4FO 906 961 AB. It comes with an 8 page step by step set of instructions.

In addition, maybe bring your service advisor a good bottle of "scotch" or something. That may help too!

Good Luck {:&gt A lot of patience and time may be required but perseverance will pay off.

*Note: They will not install the MMI upgrade by itself; you must report that you have an intermittent DSP problem. The TSB shown above is about the intermittent DSP Surround Sound fix via the MMI upgrade. Your car must be a 2005/06 A6 or A8 per the TSB or you're going to be out of luck for this particular MMI update.
