MMI/F5 module problems
Hey Guys I am a newbie trying to solve a problem for a friend with with a 2011 A6 3.0T. Basically this is the issue:
The A6 was purchased in April 2011 and has 18,000 miles on it. This past April while on a trip to Boston the Nav System rebooted a couple of times. The car was taken in for service in May and the F5 module was replaced. He had the car a short period of time and the problem returned. The F5 module was replaced again. He had the car another week, and the problem returned with additional symptoms. In that week he had the Blue Tooth disabled. When he took the car back again he was told the F5 module was bad again. He said after the second repair that he was concerned that something else was causing the failure of the module, and that it might not be the module itself. Service had the A6 for about two weeks. Halfway through he got a call asking what cell phone he had and who was the carrier. A week later he picked up the car. He was told that the module was fine, and that Audi said there was an issue with the iphone 4s that use AT&T's service. He was told that if he wanted to use the Bluetooth built into the car, it was his responsibility to get a new phone. Audi and the service department were saying too bad, not their problem...COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
If only that was the end of it. In the brief time he has had the car back he has had the Bluetooth off in the car and disabled on his phone, and the problem is worse than ever and continuing to deteriorate.
Yesterday alone, the entire MMI system shut down three times and could not be restarted unless the car was turned off for no less than a couple of hours. Today, in an hour of drive time, he lost all audio for 20-60 seconds four times. Twice, the car did not even recognize the SAT band.
What do you guys think? Audi service is not helping at all.
Thanks

im guessing the car is CPO'd. my advice would be, take it back, call AOA, ask for a GOOD loaner and tell them until they fix it "PROPERLY" and find out exactly what the issue is/was, dont call.
