MMI And Phone Book
Hey All, in order for the MMI to be able to access the phone book on one's phone via the BlueTooth do the contacts have to be in phone memory or can they be on the SIM Card? Thanks.

I think it depends on the phone. If your phone's contact list shows entries from your SIM, the MMI will more than likely pick it up. If your phone does not add the SIM entries to your address book, then probably not.

WARNING!! MMI update and loss of ability for MMI interface to "read" the phone book on my bluetooth phone.
Recently had the software update done for my 2007 A6 during the 35k service. Included in this update is new software for Bluetooth. Before the update my Verizon Motorola Z6c phone had no trouble interfacing with the MMI system. After the update the MMI no longer "sees" the Phone Book and can therefor also not import the numbers into the directory. The numbers can be put in to the Directory manually but this is a time consuming process.
The Dealer is of no help (the MMI would read the Phone Book on his personal Moto Razr 3 phone) and Audi Customer service was equally lame about it. Never mind that it worked properly before the update and not at all after the update even though the Motorola Z6c is listed as compatible by Audi.
Does any one have a similar problem? And a fix?
The only solutions that I see are if before the update:
1. Before the update import your Phone Book to the Directory (You'd think the dealer would have mentioned this to me as I was not the first to have this problem) or after the update:
2. Transfer your Phone Book to a phone that the MMI will read such as the Razr 3, import it to the Directory as a work around. The only question is who should pay for this?
Also, does any one know if it is possible to import the Phone Book from a CD or DVD? Thanks in advance for any help.

what software version do your MMI and your phone module say? post pics of the screens.
never heard of anyone losing their phonebook ability after an update, that's a new one.

I wonder if it's the phone module update that does it, not the MMI one. There are 2 steps to the 46.10 package.
