MMI software and nav questions about updates
About three weeks ago I purchased a 2008 A6. It has software version 41.4, and the nav dvd is 2007/2008. I am already frustrated with the nav system and lack of roads and addresses in it. In searching around on this message board I see that I'm not alone.
I have read on here that the newest s/w version is 46.1 and that a 2011 map dvd is now available.
My first question is, how do I go about updating the MMI to 46.1? I assume I have to take it to the dealership, and I'm wondering if it's costly and is the difference noticeable enough to be worth the cost? What features are added/improved in 46.10?
My second question is, for those who have upgraded to the 2011 map dvd, do you think it is better enough to be worth $199.00? I live in the Grand Rapids, MI area. If it's still missing a bunch of streets I don't want to spend the money.

With the map upgrade: I do not think that it worth $200. Maybe you can get copy from bitTorrent, try it and if you see the streets you need, buy it. But somehow I doubt there is a big difference in street coverage between 2008 and 2011.
Or you can spend these money on a google phone with online map service.
