can the upgrade CD I used for my 04 A8 be used in an 06 A6 to bring software up to 3360 ?

Yes you should be fine. Just make sure you're doing 3360 prior to anything else. Here are the part numbers for the update CDs:
3360: 4F0906961AB
4140: 4L0906961H
4610: 4F0998961

but on the CD box it listed numbers for A6 and A8, not CD part numbers but SVM numbers. Whatever they are. So then I called a dealer and they said I needed a different CD, but the update was already underway.

And since the A8 has more things controlled by MMI I thought maybe they were right, but I know back when I did my A8 the procedure and CD number I used were from the A6 forum.

When the upload finished there was 1 not OK, and since I was not sure about the CD I did not hit 'RETRY' to get rir of the 1 not OK. Should I do the upload again to get rid of the not OK ?
