Default Was this MMI update issue ever solved?

After hour upon hour of frustration trying to update MMI from 2750 to 3360, I found a post from "PhantomS6" (posted below) that hints that the 3360 update disc did not include a Head unit version number that some folk's (including me) have... and so the update hangs up.
I have pinged Phantom S6 but have not heard back yet. Is it just a matter of changing (debuggging)the number "8" on the disc to the number "9"?
Thanks very much for any help. What a hassle, just trying to make an ipod interface:/
Here's a pic of the screen hang up and Phantom's post:

I debuged the Meta file on the CDs and believe I found the issue.
The Meta file tells the system which versions it can upgrade the EEPROM from. The EEPROM does not relate to the MMI version. It appears to be some base file for the headunit. There are alot of versions listed in the file. Our version (1.1.18.25.7.27.11.2) shows in both files shows a CRC of 0xbe87c369. However, our cars have a CRC of 0x61435738. I believe that a mistake was made in the file for our particular version. This file is changable and I could correct the CRC to match our cars so the install would continue but, I'm not quite that brave yet. I'm going to the dealer to compare the file with several of their cars on the lot to see what other versions of the EEPROM show before I make a decision to mess with the file. The problem is definitely with the Headunit. A new headunit with a later or older EEPROM version would work. I was able to change the Meta file to fool it into thinking the headunit did not need an update. When I ran the CD in the car, it did skip the headunit and showed the other components were ready to update. Send me an email and I'll give you more details and keep you up to date with what I learn.

Hmmm I don't recall. I "think" it gave me a list of equipment, like mp3, telephone etc. but I would have to go there again. At any rate it didn't go further.
It did not get me to where it would run.
I did learn you can do quite a bit of menu viewing with no harm.
What would this tell me though?
I can see in the "Headunit" meta file on the Audi disc that they listed for
SourceVersion 1.1.18.25.7.27.11.2 (which is what I have) a
SourceCrc of 0xbe87c369, while mine shows 0x61435738.
So I am wondering if I change the Crc number on the disc to the Crc number I have... if that's the fix? Would this file be just open a gateway to allow the update, or would there / might there be further references contained deeper in the disc?
Any thoughts appreciated !
Thanks!

So you can edit the disk..hmm, except it could possible lock up the system cause it could be looking for hidden files which you can't open. Many things bad can happen when editing as you well know.
Go to the local shop and ask the guy who does the sw updates what the ramification are if you corrupt the files, plus ya never know..they might even give you an update but most likely not
BTW..my last sw update #46? Had to be restarted and installed three times by the tech before it took...I also ended up losing a few "features which I'm told were eliminated such as battery watch... so it certainly doesn't always go smoothly regardless.

Default Good advice. What a boondoggle.

At least in my case.
My plan is to check with a dealer or two and see if they have any enthusiasm about doing the upgrade to at least 3360.
And, since the mighty AMI cannot stream, I will also search for a good FM transmitter and call it a day.
Audi should have some interest in helping customers connect their iphones for both streaming and ipod use I think... but could be just me.
Thanks for any thoughts, solutions, or near solutions.

I thought there's an existing Bluetooth TSB that requires an MMI update to be resolved...which, when applied, will get you to at least 3360, if not all the way to the latest (check the forum sticky, pierreb's sig?) for the TSB regarding this.

That's how mine got updated to 3360, although the dealer was the one who offered that there was an applicable Bluetooth update vs me casting about for same.

Have you tried same?

That reminds me that I need to update the TSB site. I will try to do it this weekend.

Default Thanks! That's a great list, but I couldn't find the one for

the bluetooth fix.
I will check with dealer about how much a customer pay upgrade might be.
In my new humble opinion, I will try to get it done to have the latest version and AMI compatibility, but since streaming, specifically Pandora internet radio, is not supported, what good is it I ask myself.
So, plan B is the $99 alpine FM modulator if it can relatively easily tie in to the antenna plug. I dont even know where the radio is located yet.
But this has good reviews, will show whats playing via RDS and if it does that, I will leave well enough alone. Maybe they will have future MMI updates to support streaming. Or, maybe not.
Anyhoo that's the plan.
Thanks for the help.
If anyone knows the cause of or how to work around my MMI upgrade issue, I'm all ears
