Last Thursday I was taking my girlfirend to a restaurant in NJ that we have been to before for her birthday. Unfortunately I was coming from a totally different direction so I thought to myself luckily I saved the position into the directory of the car from the last time I was there. I figured next time I can just plug it in. So that day I set the destination and I drive for 40 minutes into the middle of NJ and when it told me I have reached my destination I was P%^&ed. I was no where near. It took me 20 miles away from where I was supposed to be.
The destination calculated for the longitude and latitude positions I saved last time I was there.
Any one have a clues as to why it was way off?
That was a good way to ruin someones birthday dinner. In addition to that it was a waste of time, gas, and was embarassing to say the least.
Thanks

In contrast to my S4, in our A6 the "save current position" doesn't work most of the time. I used this at my sister-in-law, and guess what, the "Destination" flag was suddenly placed many blocks away. I was standing in their driveway for a while until I figured out a way to bypass this madness. The solution was to manually change the location with the "crosshair" to one block away, and to store that. Close enough...
I have since repeated this test with "store current location" (or whatever it's exactly called) and it never worked. As in, it didn't complain - it simply put the checkered flag in the ground a few miles away. Not 20, but still far enough to make for an exciting experience.

Same happened to me. Stored the location (Minado restaurant in Morris plains NJ) which was not available on the v4 disc and when I tried a month later to go back there it took me 20 miles away.
I have now upgraded to v5 and that restaurant is still not there but I have not tried the save location function yet.
