Hello All,

New member and first post. I just purchased a 2007 S6 this past December.

Thank you all for the info on the cats.

I spoke with Bob from Stratmosphere last week and he asked if I would be interested in getting a supercharger for my 2007 S6. The specs he estimated for the final product were an additional 100hp or more with minimal boost. The price would be around $10k in his estimation. His open risk item is the transmission that may not be able to handle that amount of torque.

FYI - I had just bought the Milltek exhaust and a few other things from Bob at the end of last year. I should hopefully have it installed this week. Now I just want to add the RS6 grill and steering wheel. That's for another post.

Thank you!

I would have interest in a supercharger as I suspect many others would. Maybe by aggregating orders we can get a better deal. The transmission issue worries me a bit though. Not a cheap fix it the supercharger causes damage. Keep us in the loop definitely.

Just as a footnote to my last post, I asked PES tuning a few weeks ago about making a supercharger kit and they said that the S6/S8 were too limited in production to make the R+D costs work although they may not have thought they could charge 10k for 100hp gain. A lot of their supercharger kits seem to boost power in the 40% range over stock and cost just under 5k.

What is the max TQ our tranny can manage? Is the S6 tranny same as the RS6 one?

6HP26 handles 600nm (about 450 ft/lbs). That doesn;t mean that it won't handle more. Many auto trans will readily handle more. The hp series is in several high torque cars( pretty much all high hp german/british autos) I thin the RS6 uses the 6hp32 which holds 740 nm( and in practice alot more)

Found this on wiki, not sure how accurate it is:

ZF 6HP26 transmission

The ZF 6HP26 was the first six-speed automatic transmission in a production passenger car. Released by ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 2000, it was manufactured by ZF Getriebe GmbH in Saarbrücken, Germany.

The ZF 6HP26 uses a Lepelletier epicyclic/planetary gearset, which can provide more gear ratios with significantly fewer components. This means the ZF 6HP26 is actually lighter than its 5-speed predecessors. It also has the capability to achieve torque converter lock-up on all six forward gears, and disengage it completely when at a standstill, dramatically closing the fuel efficiency gap between automatic and manual transmissions.

The ZF 6HP26 was first used by BMW on the 2001 E65 7 Series, though Audi AG was the first announced user with their 2003 Audi A8 (D3).

Normally reserved for high end luxury and sports cars, ZF has made the 6HP26 available to Hyundai for use on its 2009 V8 Hyundai Genesis and the 2010 3.8L V6 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

While the ZF 6HP26 itself is rated for a maximum input torque of 600 newton metres (443 ft·lbf), sister products with different ratings exist in the form of the ZF 6HP19 and ZF 6HP32. In addition to this, several versions of the ZF 6HP26 are available depending on application and brand: ZF 6HP26, ZF 6HP26A and ZF 6HP26X.

6HP26A
Four-wheel drive version used in Audi, Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Bentley marques of the Volkswagen Group:

2002–present Volkswagen Phaeton (Typ 3D)
2003–present Audi A8 (D3, Typ 4E)
2003–present Bentley Continental GT
2005–present Bentley Continental Flying Spur
2006–present Audi S6 (C6, Typ 4B)
2008–present Audi RS6 (C6, Typ 4F)

RS6 C6 powertrain
Drive output passes through a modified ZF 6HP26A six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission (parts code: 09E, identification code: KZQ or KZH) (gear ratios - 1st: 4.171, 2nd: 2.340, 3rd: 1.521, 4th: 1.143, 5th: 0.867, 6th: 0.691), with shortened shift times, with "Dynamic Shift Programme" (DSP) and "Sport" mode. It has paddle-shifts mounted behind the flat-bottomed steering wheel, similar in design to the Audi B7 RS4. The gearbox is set by default, in conventional automatic mode, to delay up-changes during acceleration, and change down earlier to maximise engine braking. Downchanges in all modes of operation include the Powertrain Control Module electronic control unit (ECU) "blipping" the Bosch "E-Gas" drive by wire throttle, for smoother shift changes. The hydraulic torque converter includes a lock-up function in all forward gears, and is able to completely disconnect when the vehicle is stationary, thus saving fuel.

If it is the same tranny on the RS6, then we should be good right?

Definitely would need to be intercooled. I dynoed my car yesterday and I believe it was heat soaking like crazy. Probably same issues as BostonS6 was having back in '08. Will post more on that once I scan in the graphs.

I think a screw rotor supercharger like a KB or Eaton TVS would be the **** on the S6. Probably add 175-200hp with an intercooled setup. I think 600hp would do nicely!

Screw blowers run about 75 degrees cooler than a roots based counterpart, so they are better to run by design. Not to say that an intercooled setup would not be better/best. FSI engines definately run hot, and it would probably be best to run intercooled, but without fancy cast manifolds the engine packageing might be difficult.

I suggest calling Bob at Stratmosphere to voice your interest.

Personally 10k is way too much for 100hp (20-25%), 5k for 170+ ((35-40%) sounds affordable.

Strength is in numbers!

sidenote:
The black wheels, RS6 grills and steering wheels look great! Any guidance please PM me. Thanks!
