So I keep seeing the commercials for the new A8 and I own an A6 because there is no way I'm going to be able to get an A8 anytime soon. But I do have a question regarding one of the features. What are those little pods that pop up by the A-Pillar??

In the video of the new C7 floating around here, the new A6 has those pop-up tweeters as well. A bit gimmicky in my opinion. I imagine you will get tired of looking at those after a month, along with pop-up MMI screen. I'm not a big fan of motorized gadgets in the car. They serve no purpose except the extra trip to dealership when they break.

a8 has a nightvision THERMAL IMAGING option to look out for pedestrians in the dark....thats insane!!!!!

It looks like the 2012 is supposed to have almost all of the A8's current features.

Didn't Cadillac have that in the 90-s?

I think they had enhanced night vision, but I don't believe it was thermal. I have not seen the A8's implementation though.

Looks very similiar to MB S-class, which I believe was the first car to implement this technology back in 2008. I saw it on Top Gear and it looked like it could be useful if you live in an area without street lights.
